This 22″x28″ acrylic and oil painting on canvas is part of my Alebrije-Inspired series. Alebrijes are a form of Mexican folk art: they are carved wooden figures that are painted in brilliant colors and patterns. My forms and shapes are not typical alebrije subjects; they are abstract. The colors are bright, the forms are patterned. The word razzmatazz means noisy, showy, or an exciting activity designed to attract attention.

RED SAILS IN THE SUNSET
This 12″x12″ oil painting on canvas started out as an abstract acrylic painting. But as you can see, it became a semi-abstract nautical scene, all in oil paint. The title harks back to the 1960 song by The Platters: ‘Red Sails in the Sunset’. I know, there is only one red sail, but poetic license!
