If you drive to the north end of Point Reyes National Seashore, to Pierce Point Ranch, you can walk from there to McClure’s Beach on the open Pacific. From there, the Tomales Point trail heads even further north, and on the way to the very tip (a long walk!), you will come upon this stunning view. What I like about it is the quintessential Coastal Sage Scrub ecosystem, the gorgeous clear blue water, and dramatic coastal California cliffs. The seascape is constantly changing with the wind, tides, and coastal atmosphere. The offshore breeze brings salt and sage to your senses. This oil painting is on a clear-finished 12″x12″x1 3/4″ deep birch wood panel, and may be hung as-is, or if you wish, a frame can be added.

Oil on Wood Panel

$2000
The playful, carefree days of summer are captured in this abstracted figurative work. The hazy, sun drenched days at the beach are re-created through heavily textured brushstrokes with blended edges that bleed into the background. The colors are dominated by earthy, warm tones contrasted with splashes of muted blue. There is a sense of nostalgia to the painting that captures faded youthful friendship.

Geometric blocks of color, vertical columns and distressed finishes give this mixed media piece a weathered city look. The pink provides energy while the grays, creams and blacks keep it grounded. Like many of my pieces, this piece uses layers that have been built up, then sanded and painted, with the process several times.
