    ALL-DAY MUSIC

This 22″x28″ acrylic and oil painting on canvas is part of my Alebrije-Inspired series. Alebrijes are a form of Mexican folk art: they are carved wooden figures that are painted in brilliant colors and patterns. My forms and shapes are not typical alebrije subjects; these are abstract. The title relates to music, a 1971 song by War.

    FANCIFUL FROU FROU FISH

This 14″x16″ acrylic and oil painting on canvas is part of my Alebrije-Inspired series. Alebrijes are Mexican folk art: they are carved wooden figures that are painted in brilliant colors and patterns. This bubble-blowing fantasy fish has no gills… oh dear!

    RED SAILS IN THE SUNSET

This 12″x12″ oil painting on canvas started out as an abstract acrylic painting. But as you can see, it became a semi-abstract nautical scene, all in oil paint.  The title harks back to the 1960 song by The Platters: ‘Red Sails in the Sunset’. I know, there is only one red sail, but poetic license!

    WATERMELON STILL LIFE

This 9″x12″ oil painting on canvas is fanciful and brightly colored. The seeds in watermelons  these days have been bred out of them and have less seeds than the one I portrayed here. On display is my love of bright colors, patterns, and in this case, symmetry.

This 16″x16″ oil and acrylic painting on canvas is part of my Alebrije-Inspired Series. Alebrijes are Mexican folk art; carved wooden figures that are brilliantly painted with intricate patterns.
