About The Artist

I fancied myself quite the artist as a child. My sweet elderly parents thought I was a genius. I graduated from a women’s liberal arts college with a major in art but needed to become independent quickly and knew my art was not the path to that goal. There were years of being an elementary school art teacher. Many years of being a Yoga instructor, then a massage therapist, then a Rolfer, 43 years total of doing and giving bodywork which I feel is truly the work I was meant to do.
But now, in my second childhood, that fancy has returned, the need to try to express in line, form, and color the beauty that amazes my eyes and feeds my spirit. I see it as my very modest way of paying homage to the beauty of the natural world. To paraphrase Steven Colbert: I’ve never loved the planet more desperately.

As I think back and remember the faces (if not the names) of all the dedicated, skillful, inspiring art teachers who taught me throughout high school and college, I owe them much gratitude and I honor their memory.
I also am grateful to Deepa Bala at College of Marin for her patient instruction and guidance a few years ago which greatly facilitated the rebooting of my artistic life.
