VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT
We are so grateful to our participating artist volunteers, who ensure Marin Open Studios is a successful event every year. As a participating artist, you are required to volunteer for 4 hours, or you may “buy out” your hours for $60. This fee is paid when you register or when we put out the call for volunteer sign ups in March. If you do not fulfill your hours, you will be offered work opportunities after the event, or billed for remaining hours.
Volunteer activities include:
- Tour Guide Distribution – help us distribute Tour Guides in Marin and beyond
- Gallery Prep & Installation – clean, paint, hang and light the gallery
- A high energy activity working with an experienced crew
- Experienced installers are especially needed
- Gallery Intake – take a shift at one of several stations
- Check in artwork and loan forms
- Carry checked art into the gallery
- Receive and file artist’s promotional postcards, bio’s etc
- Give guides and directional signs to artists as they leave
- Opening Gala – help us organize and set up for this kickoff event
- Gallery Docents – an important liaison between fellow artists and collectors
- Greet visitors, offer Tour Guides
- Become familiar with artists’ work and location within the gallery
- Willing to go the extra step to assist sales and answer questions
- Gallery Pickup Day – take down art, clean gallery, assist with closing tasks
All volunteer activities take place in April and May. Volunteer slots are filled on a first come, first served basis.
