    Spirit Messengers

Spirit Messengers won best in show (international award) from Fiber Arts Network.

Altered Book – The transformation of the traditional needlepointing technique was reimagined into a completely different realm.  Instead of using the traditional needle, embroidery thread and canvas; shredded paper and perforated aluminum was used.  The perforated aluminum was hand formed into the desired shape.  Next a book on modern art was selected and the color plates were shredded to use as the pallet to make the imagery.  The shredded paper was individually selected and woven into the metal leaving both ends free.  This process was then repeat thousands of times.  I enjoy this challenge and find it rewarding when a multi-sensory experience is achieved for the viewer.
