Maggie Hambling, an artist I greatly respect, once said “take whatever you are feeling to your art.” Lately, due to many converging events, there has been an uneasy and disjointed sense within me. Words fall short and feel like claustrophobic boxes. So I followed Maggie’s advice. This piece is completely unfiltered- dug out from inside myself.
Hand painted and sculpted clay head on deer vertebra.
*The vertebra was sterilized and completely white but is painted with acrylic and pastels to look like it was dug out of the dirt.
Mixed media assemblage piece painted with acrylic and pastels. Clay face and body with feather, brush, poppy seed pod, and hand forged metal beak. Price includes sales tax.
