M.O.M. Hummingbird 2 (in memory of mom)
M.O.M. Hummingbirds 2 (in memory of mom)
digital art | 2023
August 17, 2022 will be a moment that I think will stay with me for the rest of my life as it is when my mom passed away. A year ago, today you left us. I must admit the past year has been filled with some very dark and low moments scattered with happy ones here and there as I go through the grief process and all the emotions that entails.
Throughout this past year more and more I have been noticing hummingbirds coming around me. In the garden, wine tasting, doing errands, etc. I’ve gotten into the habit of saying “Hi Mom” every time I see one, knowing that though she is not here physically she is with me.
So today I wanted to release the first in my new series M.O.M. (in Memory Of Mom) Hummingbirds. Brand new original watercolors were painted and then used in this new digital art composition.
I love you mom and miss you every moment of every day.
…Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. – Psalm 30:5 NLT
Soul
Soul is part of my original 10-piece Persona series which has grown and developed over the years. This composition specifically focused on the ideal form of ballerinas merging two poses into one composition. I love working with bright color, movement, and spontaneity.

Wholeheartedness
This past year I began to focus on the traditional ballerina shapes and silhouettes again. The tutus, the point shoes, the buns, tiaras, elegance, and full extension. In Wholeheartedness I loved combining these two ballerina poses together to create a new perspective. The color combination of the yellows and greens I think makes the figures pop even more. I hope you are liking new work. It is becoming one of my fan favorites.

Vino’s Individuality II
Vino’s Individuality II is part of A Grapevine’s Persona, a digital art series, which focuses on the world of wine, vines, grapevines and grapes.
The silhouette of this composition are of cabernet sauvignon grapevines from a wine tasting event at Robert Young Estate Winery located in the Alexander Valley in Geyserville, CA.
Aspire Hope
Aspire Hope is part of my 2020 Shelter In Place | Covid-19 | Digital Art Series. I wanted to focus these new works on what brings me to bring me JOY in my life: the human body in motion through dance and color.
Aspire Hope is one of very few compositions where it is a couple that dance together (male and female), rather than multiple figures that overlap each other. I imagine they are dancing to Tchaikovsky’s ballet of Romeo and Juliet. I used different set of level adjustments for this piece and fell in love with this new color palette of pinks, purples, blues, and a bit of cream. I hope it aspires hope in your life to long for the day when we can see live performances once again whether a musical theater production, the ballet, opera, and other live performance.
Autumn’s Persona
Autumn’s Persona is part of A Grapevine’s Persona, a digital art series, which focuses on the world of wine, vines, grapevines and grapes.

A Grapevine’s Persona series is dedicated to my husband who loves and introduced me to wines and going wine tasting. As we travel around vineyards I always have my camera or iPhone close at hand, literally. I shoot anything and everything to find a composition. Yet I mostly concentrate my work on nature. The most wonderful thing about working with nature as your subject matter is that it is ever changing. Artist Robert Bateman states it best, “Everything in nature has its own personality.” You can never capture or see the same composition twice. There are always little nuances of change. When you take photographs or observe nature and wildlife they almost never stay in that “perfect” composition you envision. Therefore you have to do a lot of improvisation and creativity to get the composition you desire.
My process for creating A Grapevine’s Persona – Digital Art Series is similar to the way I create my Persona: A Figurative Digital Art Series only instead of using drawing, paintings, or watercolors as a basis I am using photography.
