“Planetary Landscapes” reflects being entirely taken by the extraordinary NASA photos of the surface of other planets and then imagining, visualizing, experimenting, and in a way recreating the unimaginable forces that shape the sometimes haunting beauty of such fantastic landscapes. Built up in layers through multiple processes, these paintings take us to a slower, deeper world of powerful forces we can still only begin to grasp in a most limited way. The enigma of those forces is the driving element in much of Planetary Landscapes, often giving rise to deeper reflections on the mystery, power, and possibility that those universal forces must bring to bear in order to create such fantastic terrain.
