Dream of Marie-Therese – Picasso Series #16
Acrylic, ink, paper on Archival wood cradle.
8” x 8” (2020)
This series of works incorporates book art, inspired by the women in Picasso’s life who were often his subjects, especially of his portraits. The portraits made me wonder if Picasso really saw the women he loved, married, and had children with in such a distorted and ugly way. I hope to bring beauty and empowerment to Picasso’s women by celebrating their beauty and strength.

Selected works
This series is inspired by the cultures, histories, and traditions of the peoples along the Silk Road. As scholars, artists, and merchants traveled throughout the region, they exchanged ideas, beliefs, and aesthetics. I seek to discover and then interpret these different strands of experiences and meanings. I incorporate into my paintings, sculptures, and pottery the vivid colors of Persian miniatures and teahouse paintings, the rich narratives of theatrical storytelling and profound poetry, and the rhythms of traditional music.
In my figurative work, including portraiture, I seek to go beyond the surface and evoke the subjects’ emotions and lived experiences.
Francoise 1946 – Picasso Series #2
Acrylic, ink, torn book pages as curls, with gold paint border on Archival wood cradle. Hair curls consist of torn pages from Picasso and Portraiture.
8” x 8” (2018)
My inspiration for this piece came after I created a large altered book piece called “A Woman’s Revenge” using a book of Picasso and his women, exhibited as the title piece at Marin MOCA’s Altered Book Exhibit in 2018. I incorporate the altered book pieces in portraits such as this one. My inspiration is still going after creating 29 pieces, mostly small portraits so far.

Print on metal, same size available. $150
Through my landscapes and seascapes, I seek to stir the viewer’s imagination. While roads without pedestrians and boats without passengers can be lonely places, they can also be places of possibility, reverie, and reflection.
