Gravity of Grace is an exploration of the foundational weight required to support a state of spiritual and mental openness. It challenges the notion that “grace” is an entirely weightless or ethereal concept.
The lower third of the canvas is anchored by a dense, mineral-rich deposit of burnt umber and oxidized sienna—a “sediment of experience.” This heavy, textured base represents the “gravity” of our history, our physical reality, and the accumulated lessons of the past. It is the unshakeable bedrock of the psyche.
Rising from this grounded depth is an expansive, atmospheric horizon of ivory and pale cerulean. This transition suggests that clarity and grace do not exist in a vacuum; they are anchored by the weight below. The piece posits that the spirit can only drift into these airy, expansive heights because it is tethered to a solid internal foundation. It is a visual meditation on the necessity of being grounded in order to truly be free.

The Vector of Intuition serves as a visual record of the moment a singular truth pierces through the noise of the subconscious.
In this work, the heavy, vertical textures of weathered umber and oxidized sienna represent “cognitive static”—the accumulated layers of established thought, habit, and internal monologue that often obscure our path. This landscape is dense and grounded, yet it is decisively interrupted.
The sharp, cerulean diagonal line acts as the “vector”: a force of sudden, directional clarity. It does not navigate around the static; it cuts through it. This piece explores the specific mental phenomenon where logic falls away and a direct path to understanding is revealed. It is a study of that precise instant when the mind stops searching and simply knows, marking a definitive trajectory toward a new internal horizon.

Radiance of Alignment (The expansive center of a unified intent)
The Territory: The starburst coordinate of a reconciled soul. This represents the ongoing integration of the self—a luminous resonance that radiates outward, expanding as you continue to grow and evolve.
The Map: The starburst coordinate. A state of total integration—an outward expansion of light that grows as you do.
The Artifact: The starburst coordinate of a reconciled soul. A state of total integration—an outward expansion of light and resonance that continues to grow and evolve as the self does.
The “starburst” is the final, ongoing state of integration. It maps the moment the internal “dissonance” resolves into a singular, outward expansion of light. It is a coordinate of total peace, where the self is no longer a collection of layers, but a radiant presence that grows larger and brighter the further you move into your own life

Trajectory of Insight (The swift passage of an evolving perspective)
The Territory: The kinetic momentum of growth. This maps the mind “launching” forward, documenting that healing is a constant movement rather than a fixed or final destination.
The Map: The kinetic vector. The momentum of growth that proves healing is a constant movement, not a fixed destination.
The Artifact: A kinetic vector through a changing atmosphere. It maps the momentum of growth—the visual record of the mind “launching” forward, documenting that healing is a constant movement rather than a fixed destination.
Healing is a kinetic energy, not a static state. This piece maps the velocity of a shifting mind. The diagonal momentum represents the act of “launching” out of heavy, dark internal structures and into a liberated atmosphere. It is the visual proof that moving forward is a choice made with speed and intent

The sharp incision of a sudden realization
Realization is often a violent act of light. This piece maps a topographical “crack”—a vertical incision that splits a stagnant mental state wide open. It is the definitive moment of “seeing,” creating a permanent opening in the mind that ensures the old fog can never fully settle back in.

A burst of life’s beauty in the form of florals
“Conversation”, a 12”x12’ scroll, I copied the remarks written by Gallery Route One members and myself when I was a member. We were discussing the title for the upcoming All Members Show. I recently reworked the back so it could be hung on the wall, using the linen cocktail napkins my friend Pat Kearns gave me (RIP). Making it available for Marin Open Studios. 2009-2026. Price on request.
