This piece represents a deep state of tranquility and stillness of mind, similar to how a vast ocean can be calm and undisturbed by winds or external forces. Where one’s thoughts and emotions can be observed without attachment, allowing for inner stillness and peace amidst life’s chaos.
It is my hope that “Ocean of Serenity” evokes the feeling of complete calm, stillness, and deep peace.

Aether, quintessence, the fifth element, however you choose to call it, was considered to be the material that fills the region of the universe beyond the terrestrial sphere. It has also been perceived to be the substance in which everything exists and is contained. An element in addition to fire, earth, water and air…spirit
The ancient Greeks believed it to be a divine, pure air that filled the heavens.
Keeping all of this in mind, I delved in to a distilled concept and explored Aether as a place of healing light and serenity – A center point of balance and stillness of our soul and spirit; a place in this known world, though is intangible; a space where all is possible.

Stand of Trees, California Landscape
$500
11 1/2 in x 12 1/2
Oil and Cold Wax on Particle Board
This oil painting could be any one of numerous hillsides in Northern California, interpreted through my artistic vision. It features visible, short, thick brushstrokes. The earthy tones provide a strong anchor to the scene while the trees and foreground exhibit colorful touches that add vibrancy to the landscape. The sky’s soft pastel hues reflect our California sun drenched days.

Mellowing Garden, Late Summer

5 1/2 in x 7/1/4 in
8 in x 10 in(Include frame and mat board)
Oil and Cold Wax on Paper
I painted this small painting at the end of summer as my garden began to wilt under the heat of the summer sun. It has a lot of texture due to the addition of cold wax to oil paint which creates a dimensional surface. While non-representational, the colors and shapes suggest a garden setting. Blues, greens and yellows dominate while touches of pink and darker tones create a vivid color palette.
