Inspired by a plein air sketch from the Gallinas ponds, this painting plays with the dramatic presence of large eucalyptus trees lined up in the meadow and reflected in the pools. The Gallinas ponds are a wonderful place for an artist to paint and I always find something there that delivers images and colors to take back to the studio.

Inspired by a full moon rising over Rancho Nicasio, in Marin County, this painting was originally a plein air sketch painted in twilight. I love the glow of the meadow grass fading as the moon rose over the darkening hillside.
This was the summer of wildfires that swept through the hillsides of Northern California. As our landscape was suffering major destruction, I decided to add the flames creeping up the slope. The addition of the flames adds a sense of both urgency and fragility to what might just be another hillside.

This painting seeks to capture the smug arrogance of Donald Trump while referencing his 2016 refrain “Lock Her Up” directed at Hillary Clinton. Trump who uses the psychological device of projection to cover his own pathological narcissism finds it has a way of boomeranging right back at him, owing to his long list of criminal acts. With his four indictments and ninety one felonies now being prosecuted, he stands a very good chance of finally getting what he deserves: conviction and jail time.
36″x48″ This piece represents to me the feeling of summer to me. The lightheartedness of the shapes float on a luscious ground of colors. On Canvas.
