SOLD – Seaside Village

Seaside Village

$1100 -SOLD

36″ x 24″ Acrylic and collage on canvas panel, professionally framed

The Seaside Village painting has a sense of charm and memory with its naive and folk-like rendering of a set of buildings huddled together on a hillside next to a harbor.

Geometric forms and clearly defined edges define each building, distinguished further by variations in color and small details like doors and windows. A small red sailboat provides a point of interest and reinforces the coastal setting.  The emphasis is on capturing the sense of a place.

The painting began as a brown paper bag collage that evolved into a landscape. Acrylic paint was applied thickly and handprinted papers added to the texture and somewhat unrestrained style.

Streets of Turin

Streets of Turin

$100

6″ x 12″ Acrylic and collage on wood panel

This small collage/painting integrates maps (Turin, Italy) with images of buildings with red tiled roofs evoking a memory of travel. It presents multiple viewpoints and layers of information simultaneously. The eye is drawn  around the painting with text, paths, shadows and highlights. It invites exploration.

Curious Cat

Curious Cat

$350

20″ x 18″ Acrylic and Collage on Canvas

This painting captures a cat curiously exploring a garden setting. With it’s tail upright and ears perked, it is alert to something. The lush, overgrown grass doesn’t reveal where or what has captivated its attention.

The use of collage creates an abstract, textured surface while the color scheme feels natural and organic. The forms are somewhat loose and expressive, emphasizing feeling and atmosphere over precise detail.
