About The Artist
Cows, Flowers, Birds, Still Lifes, Landscapes, Portraits, Abstracts. These are some of the images you might find among the art I produce. There is a great deal of diversity.
My process embraces impulsivity. As a result, there is very little planning for a painting but there are a lot of hours spent editing and revising. I take risks and like the surprises that evolve when working unconstrained by an outcome.
I rarely consider paintings failures. They are knots that need to be unraveled. It may take time but the successes that come from sorting out the tangles are the inspiration to keep exploring this craft.
This loose approach to subject may be what makes my work so diverse. The variety of tools I use may contribute as well. My painting mediums are acrylic, oil, paper, ink, watercolor and pastel. I often sand the surface. Sanding, like my other processes, produces random results. Many pieces include collage, which is an unpredictable medium but highly versatile partner in creativity.
In the 80’s, I studied art in Texas as an undergraduate. Currently, I take classes in the Bay Area studying with Tami Tsark, Diane Williams and Chuck Potter, among others.
