This sculpture is a hybrid of two spiritual beings. Miko is the term for a female Japanese shaman who serves as an intermediary between the human world and the divine realms. Jizo, also a Japanese term, is a deity in Buddhism. Jizo is dedicated to easing the suffering of all beings and is particularly associated with protecting children and saving beings who are in hell realms.
Hand painted and sculpted clay head with feathers, Tibetan brass bells, and wooden skull bead on vintage Chinese brush. Mounted on metal stand.

Spiritually, Fusion can mean a union with the divine, an integration of practices, interpersonal bonding, and/or the mind-body connection –
Essentially a profound sense of blending, union or integration.
I invite you to think of what inner alchemical process you under go to cultivate your energy in order to achieve a state of wholeness. Or what do you need to do or change in your life so you can foster a space to practice your authenticity and wholeness.

Spiritually, solstices are considered a time for introspection, manifestation, and connecting with nature, allowing individuals to honor the cyclical nature of life and embrace personal growth.
With this in mind, I continued my work in exploring the healing elements of light and the serenity it can bring. By devling into the dynamic contrast between vibrant crimsons and gentle yellows, I worked to evoke a sense of movement and emotion within this piece.
