Golden Gate Bridge – Vertigo
Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak and their cars appear at Fort Point in Vertigo. The original focus was a surfer riding his bike with a surfboard strapped to the side. The surfer is gone. From a photo my wife took. 30″x40″ oil on canvas.
Red
Jack Hunt’s new and used classic cars in San Rafael. This piece represents numerous visits to the site during day and night and in the rain. I did a small oil study first which only vaguely resembles this larger piece. As with most of my paintings much has been altered from the original scenes. I am particularly drawn to strong geometries night rain shadows and deeper warmer colors. My wife an art history major calls my paintings expressionistic realism.
