About This Work:
Part of the fan art series, this is a portrait of Monet X Change, the unforgettable drag queen from RuPaul’s Drag Race and a powerhouse baritone opera singer. I had the joy of seeing her live in San Francisco, and she was electric. This painting honors her artistry, voice, comedy, and fierce, radiant presence she brings to the stage.

About This Work:
One of my favorite scenes from The Big Lebowski is when Jeff Bridges, playing “The Dude,” casually flicks his lit roach out the car window, only to realize the window is rolled up.
The burning cherry bounces back into his lap, and his reaction makes me laugh.
Sometimes, even when things go sideways, the best thing to do is laugh—and just keep driving.

About This Work:
I was commissioned to touch up someone’s copy of Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring. Afterward, I was inspired to try painting it myself. It was a real challenge! The subtlety of Vermeer’s original is astounding, especially in the fine details and the delicate network of tiny cracks that run throughout the painting.

This is the fourth time painting this bowl of lemons.

About This Work:
When war was declared, I watched in stunned disbelief as a city full of people was bombed. War, I remember reading on a bumper sticker, is a failure of imagination, which feels hollow when concrete is falling on our friends, family, fellow human beings.
I painted this piece out of a desire to encase that madness, to contain the harm born of disconnection and greed. I wish healing upon those who are strangers to themselves who support cruelty, violence and money hoarding. This painting is a prayer for people to live in harmony and understanding, to be free from tyranny, and for heaven on Earth for all.

About This Work:
While listening to Ossie Davis’s powerful eulogy, I envisioned a fiery twister erupting from the earth and spiraling into the sky.
A force of transformation.
This painting reflects on legacy, the fierce energy of activism, and the moment that energy becomes memory. Those who remember and act carry the work forward.
The painting asks will Ossie Davis’ work be remembered?
Deep reds, yellows, and browns conjure heat, motion, and reverence.
