About The Artist
I am inspired to paint portraits of people in moments larger than themselves. Working in acrylic, I build layers that capture the physical likeness and the subject’s intangible energy. I paint portraits of the presence in people. I want to paint the light in people as a form of universal connection and recognition.
Elizabeth Flanagan is a Marin County-based painter working in acrylic and watercolor. She loves painting portraits and commissions, especially of couples, families, and family pets. She has been running painting classes since 2009, currently teaching at the Isabel Cook community center in San Anselmo. Flanagan has exhibited in the Bay Area, including at the O’Hanlon Center for the Arts, Town Books, and in the 2020 de Young Open at the de Young Museum.
