About The Artist

Artist Statement

I’m Teal Collins, a self taught artist and lifelong musician. My art grew out of my desire to capture and share beauty with honesty and soul, and to create a place where I can keep evolving to “see” what is exciting, and share that!

My spirit settles and my heart lifts when I’m painting and singing.

If my artwork brought you here, I have a feeling we share something. I really believe the right people find each other at the right time, and that our meeting isn’t accidental. My hope is that every piece offers you a doorway into a secret world, a resting place for your eyes and soul, and a little reminder of what is good, true, and beautiful. Thank you for being here. Teal

Biography

Teal Collins is a Bay Area–based musician and visual artist with a lifelong creative practice rooted in music, storytelling, and color. The daughter of legendary jazz DJ Al “Jazzbeaux” Collins, Teal was steeped in sound early—she learned ukulele at age five and never really stopped making things after that.

As a teenager, she received a guitar from Les Paul, a moment that helped cement a deep devotion to songwriting and performance. Around 2000, she co-founded The Mother Truckers, launching a career that would include national touring, platinum and gold records, and decades onstage as a powerhouse singer and bandleader.

In recent years, Teal has expanded her creative life into fine art, bringing the same instinct, emotion, and rhythm into her paintings. Her visual work often blends wildlife, florals, and abstract landscapes—pieces that feel playful, nostalgic, and quietly hopeful. Whether through song or paint, her work is about creating a softer place to land: a little joy, a little wonder, and something that makes you want to linger.
