About The Artist

Artist Statement

I’ve loved working on a potter’s wheel since high school art class, then majored in Fine Art (painting, ceramics, printmaking, sculpture) as an undergraduate, followed by a 40 year career in graphic design as the owner of Roehrick Design. One of my clients for eight years (2001-2008) was the Marin Arts Council, for whom I designed the annual Marin Open Studios promotional materials — all the while looking forward to the day I’d have time to return to my fine art roots.

I’d keep my hands in clay whenever I could, taking independent classes at the College of Marin and later in my backyard studio, occasionally gifting pieces to my design clients. Recently retired, I now have more time to dedicate to my pottery, experimenting with different types of clay, glazes, and techniques, plus come full-circle to participate as a Marin Open Studios artist.
