About The Artist
Nate Sumner went to public schools in Detroit, and won a scholarship to go to Brown University. Here he received undergraduate and doctoral degrees in American Culture. He never forgot the art history course he took as an undergraduate. Here his Professor inspired every class by studying and critiquing a single work of art. Nate learned how unexpectedly rich a painting can truly be.
In 1990, he made a significant career change into real estate. It was here that he discovered this to be an excellent stimulant for his artistic career. This gave Nate the luxury of space and opportunity to recognize and develop his calling as a fine arts painter. Consequently, for the past two decades he’s happily worked as a professional painter. Since he first picked up a paintbrush in his early sixties, Nate has not stopped painting. His attraction to abstracts and landscapes continue to evolve and Nate finds this deeply meaningful.
