About The Artist

Artist Statement

Nancy L. McLennon has been a lifelong artist who lives with her husband in Marin County, CA. Her paintings are inspired by her love for the Pacific Coast, Marin County, and the California wine country.

After decades of living in the San Francisco Bay Area, the year-round displays of florals, and warm earthy colors of landscapes have drawn her in for good! She is constantly stopping to wonder at the sweep of local hills as they touch the airy, deep blue of the sky. That is where the mystery and magic of painting a landscapes lies!

Additionally, a large part of her newer creations are joyful, wildly colorful experiments with painting bright, modern florals. She works in a loose painterly style, which draws the viewer to study her work up close and then again at a distance. She wants to inspire you to stop for a moment, to gaze and to dream.

She has extensively traveled throughout California, Oregon, and the State of Washington. Along these travels, she is often inspired to paint the green or golden hills and tiny farms that sweep throughout these regions. Whether she is working on a joyful floral or a lush landscape, she is excited by the colors, shapes, and interplay with the paint.

Nancy is fascinated with science, nature, history, and mystery programs, and frequently listens to them as she paints.

Nancy McLennon was born and raised in Western Michigan. As a child, she loved wandering in nearby woods, daydreaming, and dipping her toes in the little streams. Color and drawing were her childhood passions and from the age of five, she knew she wanted to be a professional artist. This dream lead her to obtain her undergraduate degree from Kendall College of Art and Design, where she studied with many professors, and Fine Artists, Jon McDonald. and (the late) Curtis Johnson. Nancy enjoys living on an insanely steep hillside, where she can view and paint Mt. Tamalpais! She regularly paints the iconic landscape. It inspires her to wake up and paint God’s creation right outside of her window.

Nancy’s work has been exhibited at locations throughout California and are held in private collections all over the United States. Her return policy is available on her website at Year round, contact her by email or phone, to schedule an appointment at her 817 D Street, San Rafael gallery. Many thanks!
