About The Artist
I work primarily in Scratchboard which looks like woodcut.
I also created a series of fruit and vegetables in acrylic from my sketchbook.
I have been an illustrator for 30 years. Growing up in Fairfax where I now live, I have found inspiration for my work in people, nature, food and animals. I’ve drawn my whole life.
I spent my twenties in Seattle going to art school. Eventually moving back to Marin I worked in Graphic Design, finally focusing solely on Illustration, my true passion.
I work in Scratchboard, an ink covered board with a China clay coat underneath. I scratch away the India ink to reveal the white and airbrush transparent acrylic ink over that, going back in to scratch highlights in the painted areas.
I recently did the illustrations on the redesign of nine beer labels for Iron Springs Brewery in Fairfax.
My illustrations have been used in advertising and editorial work such as food and wine
packaging, outdoor gear, logos, cookbooks, magazines, street banners, brochures and posters. Some of the publications that I’ve done covers for are the Pacific Sun, Yoga Journal, Bay Area Natural Pages and the California State Parks Association.
