About The Artist
I work in Scratchboard whose finished product resembles woodcut or linocut. Scratchboard is an illustration board covered with white China clay and topped with India ink. After transferring my pencil drawing down I work in reverse, using an Exacto knife to scratch away the black revealing the white underneath. Then I mask out areas and airbrush transparent ink on top, finally scratching highlights out of the color. My originals are very small so after that I have them scanned and enlarged into fine art Gicleé prints.
I live in Fairfax where I grew up. I graduated from The Art Institute of Seattle and spent my twenties there gradually making my way back to the bay area. I’ve been an illustrator for 29 years working on projects for cookbooks, editorial, logos, signage, food packaging and restaurant signage.
