About The Artist
My background is in commercial photography. When I transitioned into fine art photography, I wanted my work to feel more painterly—less like a standard print from my printer and more like something tactile and expressive. I was drawn to image transfers because no two pieces are ever the same.
Margot has been working as a freelance lifestyle photographer in the Bay Area for over 30 years. Since commercial photography now requires hours of retouching Margot uses her fine art life as an escape from the computer. The art she produces ranges from still self-directed photography projects as well as collage using image transfers, paint and paper.
No matter what the medium she is working in, Margot uses her own high resolution images as the basis for her fine art pieces. Margot also teaches image transfer and encaustics workshops in California in Mill Valley, San Anselmo and Sausalito.
