About The Artist
I have taken up painting as a serious endeavor since retiring from my full-time work about fifteen years ago. My favorite painting medium is oil. I love the feel, texture, versatility and expressiveness of oil paint. The beautiful and the extraordinary fascinate me, as well as the shadowy side of things. I usually begin my landscape paintings plein air, and my figurative work from live models. Finishing touches are painted in the studio.
Born in Germany in 1942, moved to Redwood City, California in 1955. I taught Physics and Astronomy at the College of Marin for 32 years. I’ve dabbled in art off and on for most of my life, but have been doing more consistently since I retired in 2004.
Open Studios on the first weekend May 6 and May 7.
