This vintage brush (c. 1940s) was originally used in a Chinese textile factory to clean threads from an industrial loom, helping to reduce fire risk. The brush was handmade and personalized by the loom worker who decorated it with a repurposed sock. The pink sock fabric is original to the brush, not added by the artist. The string—reconfigured by the artist into arms and hands— is also an original feature.
The head and ears are sculpted with self-curing clay and painted with acrylic and pastels. Recycled kilim rug fibers are placed atop the ears. Mounted on metal stand. 16x5x5 inches. One-of-a-kind.
