This piece has been accepted by the San Francisco Women Artists Gallery for the show Irrepressible Women.
Show Dates: March 4-April 4, 2025
Show juried by Karen Gutfreund: artist, activist, and curator.
Mixed media assemblage piece: body, head and arms made from apoxie clay. The face is inspired by a public domain portrait of a woman who came through Ellis Island alone (from Ukraine) in 1904. The fishing weights carry words and issues which have weighted the lives of the female gender. The base shows the legislative documents that affected the autonomy of women in the United States. This artwork is celebrating the resilience of women in our past and for our future.
