Eilean Donan Castle
The Donan Castle. I went to Dublin to see the lost painting, The Taking of Christ. On our first day, we went for a walk in the center of town. I noticed a postcard that morning that lit me up like a light bulb. It was one of a castle. So I handed it to my wife and she bought it with a few others. When we got back to the hotel, she looked at the back and noticed that the castle was the family castle of my good friend, Scotty Elrod. So, of course, I had to paint it. Most experts say you cannot paint from a photograph. because the photos don’t have the feeling of being on location live. But if you paint from the photo playing a musical piece like the Brandenburg Concerto, by Mozart, interpreting it in your own style, it can work out pretty well.

I am a big fan of Caravaggio. So I thought I would paint my own “Caravaggio’s”. Well, actually two. The second was “St. Francis In Ecstacy”. It is 36 X 48 inches , oil on canvas and took me hundreds of hours to complete. It is available with a beautiful custom frame.
