Soar

“The courage it takes to leave behind what’s not for you anymore is the same courage that will help you find your way to what is.”

This piece color shifts and beautifully changes according to ambient and direct light. She’s a very special one, just like those that inspired this piece.

What Lies Beyond

“No one worth knowing has had an easy past…. There’s this thing that people who have spent time in the gutter, instinctively comprehend. This thing the timid or fortunate will never understand. You can see it in their eyes…you can hear it in their music, you can feel it in the way they shake your hand…or the words that they use as they try to describe something to you… They no longer take the good for granted…and when trouble finds them, they go down swinging. They know the bad times won’t last…nor will the good times. Time is manmade…nobody really knows what time it is right now….and you’re on your own schedule, not someone else’s. The strongest people out there are not those who show strength in front of us…but those who fight and conquer/lose battles we know nothing about. In the quiet… In the silence. Please be good to one another.”

“The universe always replaces what exits your life with something bigger and better. Don’t be stuck holding onto the past or resisting change. Welcome new energy. Let go of what needs to be removed. There’s great blessings in surrendering and allowing.”

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

Ripples of Radiance

Ripples of Radiance loosely depicts a koi pond in Kyoto that I visited often while living in Japan. I used acrylic paints with a palette knife to express the movement of these graceful beauties.

Light at the Top

Light at the Top is a 20×20 inch acrylic painting of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park in the winter. The warm glow of the sun at the top contrasts with the very cool feeling in the shaded valley floor. This painting brings the feeling of winter into the home in any season.
