Although arts and crafts are two different types of creative expression, the line between the two can be blurry. What is fine art in some cultures can be considered craft in other cultures, therefore making the difference between the two expressions highly subjective.
Fine Craft typically refers to functional and utilitarian objects when the value of the object is secondary to its function. It is also about excellence in working with a particular material.
Fine Art is more focused on works with aesthetic, imaginative, and intellectual value, rather than practical use.
This exhibition features levels of skill, craftsmanship, materials, techniques, and creativity involved in making unique Fine Craft and Fine Art objects from the Bay Area.
