About The Artist
My work is an ongoing study primarily in oil, dedicated to capturing the gravity of transient moments. Through composition and saturated color, I seek to isolate and express subjects that compel deep personal interest. My practice is a quest for authentic expression, aiming to create not just a depiction, but an emotional resonance that invites the viewer to step into the captured moment and find their own lasting connection.
Title Suggestion: A Lifetime in Layers
For Sutton, art is a legacy. His creative path was set by his grandfather, a veteran Disney animator, making art a core pillar of his family’s life. Following his formal training at the Maine College of Art, Sutton spent the next three decades translating that visual knowledge into the fast-paced, complex world of the video game industry, specializing in creative strategy, licensing, business development, and high-level GTM.
Over the past decade, however, the quiet, intentional work of painting has emerged as his most vital pursuit. Inspired by the encouragement of peers, this practice serves as a necessary anchor—a space for genuine connection and centered inspiration away from the demands of the digital world. Sutton is now focusing his creative energy on painting, striving to bring the deep understanding of narrative, design, and structure honed in the gaming industry into a new, more enduring medium. This journey is about continuing to create, layer by layer, with no intention of ever stopping.”
