About The Artist
I have been a Landscape Designer for many years, creating large scale gardens in the Bay Area. I wanted to learn to paint so that I could make up my own universe through the use of color. What I discovered was that the greater challenge for me is to portray the world through direct observation. I find joy in being out in nature, capturing the landscape, in front of a model, across from a still life, and having the paint flow out in exciting colors. It’s like magic to me.
I grew up in Great Neck, New York, daughter of an antique jeweler. I spent my childhood admiring and studying the beautiful jewelry he sold on Forty Seventh Street in Manhattan. My artistic eye began to develop while sifting through and analyzing every detail of these small works of art. I learned to understand and appreciate good design, as seen through my father??s keen eyes. We would spend hours discussing the merits of these small works. It is that same interest and passion that makes painting and drawing so intoxicating to me now.
