About The Artist
It is my goal to produce figurative bronze sculpture that brings a sense of joy and peace to the viewer. The themes I choose often have to do with the natural world, the environment or the inner landscape of the mind. These themes I often personify with a female figure in some sort of motion or emotion. The purpose of art is communication and I’m striving to make a connection with the viewer of my work ” from heart to heart”.
Born to a family of professional artists, I was immersed in the art world at childhood. My official training was at UC Berkeley and various professional workshops. Originally I was a painter, but became a sculptor at the urging of an artist friend. She was so right! It is my favorite and best means of expression. It far surpasses paint as my medium of choice.
Originally from Hawaii, my family settled in Marin in the 1960’s. As a young woman I moved to Texas where my father was born and later married Bill Ponder, my favorite Texan. We moved back to the Bay area in 2009.
For many years I exhibited my work at Sculpture in the Park in Loveland, Colorado as well as in galleries in Santa Fe, Palm Desert, Scottsdale, Boca Raton and other locations. In 2002 “Autumn Leaves” was chosen for exhibition by the National Sculpture Society for their Awards Exhibit in Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina and New York.
