Marjory M. Horton loves to create visual art that expands new awareness. Each artists new vision expands the possibilities for all human beings. The more these new images cause one to feel good, the more power is given to the creation. Therefore artists are on the cutting edge of creating the universe. What fun!
Marjory Horton
Born in 1934 in Portland, Oregon, into a nature loving family
Willamette University (Salem, OR), BA: Art, Psychology, & French
University of Portland (Portland, OR), MA: Teaching
Worked in Germany mid 50’s, visiting many museums in Europe and Middle East
Many classes in drawing, painting, ceramics, and art history at San Francisco Art Institute
Entered Graduate Program at SFAI and received MFA
Was invited to teach at SFAI
First female full time teacher in the painting department at San Francisco Art Institute (1968-1972)
Taught drawing and painting at all levels, taught graduate seminars (painting & sculpture 2 yrs)
One person shows on the various series (painted over a years time), visiting the site to draw weekly.
