About The Artist
Marin Ventures is a day program serving adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. We are dedicated to fostering independence and helping our participants engage with the community as much as possible. An important part of our offered activities is our arts program, which includes drawing in all media, acrylic and watercolor painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, music, drama, photography, digital art and more. We are not an art-only program, we have a wide curriculum to help people grow in all aspects of their life, but we have a strong emphasis on the arts.
Our program space at 10 Joseph Court, San Rafael, features a drawing and painting studio, a small gallery space that doubles as a printmaking studio, a clay and sculpture studio (with a small kiln room,) and a music instruction and recording room. During program hours, 9-3 p.m visits need to be arranged in advance with Creative Arts Director Tim Park. We are normally closed evenings and weekends but will open for art events periodically.
An important part of the art activities that happen at Marin Ventures is finding ways for people with severe mobility issues, many of whom are also non-verbal, to express themselves, to leave a lasting mark on the universe. We also do some instruction, but much of what we do here is facilitating art creation, providing materials and opportunities.
As we add artists’ work to this directory, we will add biographical information about those artists.
