About The Artist
I am fascinated by circles, line, and texture. This began a quarter century ago when the suction cup feet of an electric pencil sharpener left concentric circle marks on a random piece of paper.
I work intuitively, altering mark making and color placements to suit my eye and the materials at hand. As I also enjoy creative writing, text elements have begun appearing in my work as well.
The peace of creative flow is the primary quality that compels my return to art making time and time again.
My grandfather was an artist in Denmark as were other ancestors and the house I grew up in marked this lineage with their imagery on the walls. I knew at the age of 12 I wanted to be an artist. The ever present saving grace in my life has been nature, its vast spaces, profusions of color, and magnificent creatures.
I’ve captured the realism of nature through drawing and attempt to capture the felt sense through color and form. My current media choices include acrylic and pen. The call of realistic drawing has begun to beckon once again and I look forward to how my work will evolve.
I have practiced art intermittently throughout my life, enjoying drawing, painting, and three dimensional work. I have taken art courses in the Central Valley and Bay Area regions of California, ranging from realism to abstraction. My current work is primarily abstract.
