About The Artist
I took up painting and mix media art after I retired from full-time work seven years ago. I built a studio in my So Cal backyard where I could immerse myself in nature and sunlight and create bold vivid paintings. About that time, I discovered the ICB building and all the artists with studios there. I was fascinated with the variety and expressiveness of work I saw and when I got the chance to move to Marin, I jumped at it. Now, even though I am not in the ICB building, the artists there serve as constant inspiration to me and the close proximity allows me to attend classes frequently. When you come to my studio, you will see a variety of work including earlier mosaics and paintings all of it revealing my love of color and shape.
Kay Foster had a long career in television, both writing and producing. She worked on many shows you might be familiar with including Heroes, The Following, The Practice and others. Once she retired, she moved from So Cal to Marin where she began to pursue her other love: art. She began her journey as a mosaic artist and quickly moved on to mixed media and acrylic work. These mediums were far more suitable to someone as impatient as she is. Plus, she loves the freedom of working with color and shape and this gives her ultimate freedom of expression.
