About The Artist
Nature has been a source of inspiration. So much of my subject matter has been flowers, landscape, animals and the human form. And I like to capture it as best I can, the colors and shapes and flowing lines. Having studied Flamenco Dance and feeling the passion for dance I also did a series of dance sculptures.
I work in ceramic sculpture and am influenced by nature, landscapes, flowers, animals and human body forms. I do lidded urns, and Life sculpture as well as plaques in relief. I have also done Cloisonne enamel, jewelry making, calligraphy, and painting. I enjoy doing custom orders of portraits and busts, bodies and work from live models but can work from photographs.
Growing up in New York’s Greenwich Village I attended the High School of Music and Art and the School of Visual Arts. I traveled extensively in Europe, Morocco and Asia and moved to San Francisco where I got a BFA in 1973 from the San Francisco Art Institute majoring in Painting and minor in Ceramic Sculpture. Received my Art teaching degree from San Francisco State in 1974. I started to do Cloisonne Jewelry and calligraphy in 1976. Got a Masters of Creative Arts degree from San Francisco State in in 1990. I continued my art studying ceramic sculpture at College of Marin with Bill Abright doing Urns and dance sculptures for 10 years and after that had been doing figurative sculpture with Tebby George. Now I have my own studio in Fairfax, California.
