About The Artist
It all began with examining the impact of modern consumption on our lives through my cultural heritage. Everything from single-use products to high-end luxury items contains plastic material. I began to sculpt polyvinyl garments as inspiration for a series of drawings and paintings.
I employ realism in my oil painting to narrate stories through everyday objects and people. I often experiment with new materials and media. For instance, working on plastic paper, I surrender some control over where the ink goes, let the surprises happen, and learn to work with the unknown. With Chinese brush drawing, I love the immediacy and freshness of the mark-making on Xuan paper. I switch among different media and series to keep my mind active and fresh. Simply put, I want to be the best artist I am capable of at the end of the day.
