About The Artist
I am a studio painter who is also trained in printmaking, photography and encaustic. I’ve always spent a lot of time in nature, finding and appreciating the small worlds that exist within the larger spaces. The 9 years spent living in Tucson Arizona really drove home my appreciation for the biodiversity of such a place as the Sonoran Desert…which is not a desert at all, but is a place literally brimming with life. Back now in the Bay Area, I’m finding myself still looking down as much as out…allowing the patch of weeds to grow, giving the native bees and insects a chance.
With my latest abstractions I am hoping to capture with paint, line, and color the incredibly beautiful patterns and rhythms that exist all around us, even in the smallest patch of ground.
Erika grew up in a small town in Southern California, where she spent a lot of time roaming the hills on either a horse or a motorcycle. She attended the University of Redlands, where she studied printmaking under John Nava. After a move to San Francisco, she graduated from SFSU with a degree in Industrial Design. Although she had a career in the Insurance Industry, she never stopped creating and has explored printmaking, encaustic, mixed media and painting.
