About The Artist

Artist Statement

Color and motion are at the heart of my work. Each painting explores the shifting balance between stillness and movement, light and shadow, form and feeling. I’m drawn to how color carries emotion and how it breathes, expands, and transforms space. My goal is to capture nature’s energy and the quiet moments where beauty reveals itself in unexpected ways.   See for yourself @ elisabethleitz.com

Biography

I grew up surrounded by art.  The smell of turpentine, mixed with fresh brewed coffee and cigarette smoke complete the memory of spending time in my father’s studio.   Creativity was not something you took a class for or learned in a book, it was just something you expressed or didn’t.  I began exploring abstract painting while living on the island of Maui after my 4th baby was born.  The fluid insanity of motherhood with the amazingly splendid backdrop of Maui created the perfect storm. Skip forward 30+ years and that fluid insanity now coexists with a calm gratitude of a full and happy life.
