Artist Statement

My mind is like a college dorm on Friday night, but my Norwegian roots encourage calm and composure. In my art, I combine the chaotic and peaceful, always striving for balance.
I work out of my home studio in Marin County near the waters of the San Francisco Bay, the rugged Northern California Coast and the foothills of Mt. Tam…….my unending inspiration.

Biography

After graduating from design school, Claire enjoyed a fulfilling 30+ year career as founder of a notable Bay Area commercial interior design firm. In 2020, she returned to painting, studying with numerous internationally collected artists to hone her studio practice. As an emerging Bay Area artist, her piece, “Westerlies and Windy Seas” was honored as one of 60 works selected from a field of over 5,000 entries in an international juried exhibition and honored in a variety of local Marin and Sonoma juried shows including a solo show at Studio Vittorelli in December 2023.

Group Studio Details

Six members of the Creatives by the Bay couldn’t be more excited to exhibit together in one place during Marin Open Studios. From atmospheric to abstract, painterly to contemporary, this diverse collection offers a glimpse of our individual inspirations and journeys. The work ranges in size from very large canvases (6’ plus) to smaller works on paper and birch panel framed and ready to hang. Come find the perfect Mother’s Day gift!
