About The Artist
Cathryn Lynea focuses on self-exploration through various mediums. Her work often features themes of expansiveness, openness, and new beginnings along with touches of her own ancestry and self-exploration of body image and of seeing oneself. Lynea’s versatility and adaptability are evident in her ability to seamlessly transition between mediums, exploring her role as a woman transforming from past into present.

2023 de Young Open / de Young museum, San Francisco CA
Émigré, her first work to be entered into an exhibition, carefully examines the complexities of the immigrant experience, inviting viewers to contemplate themes of identity. The inclusion of Émigré in the de Young Open 2023 marks a significant milestone in her artistic journey. From 7,700 entries, 887 works by Bay Area artists were accepted into the museum’s juried competition.
