Originally from South Africa, I immigrated to the United States at the age of sixteen with my family who did not support the apartheid system. While we were staunchly opposed to the white racist government of South Africa, we loved the country itself. I grew up taking photos of the beauty of South Africa, especially the animal parks (Kruger National Park) and the coastal cities of the Cape Province.

I gave up photography for my schooling years and didn’t truly pick it up seriously again until after my own kids were grown, but quickly adapted to the “digital” workflow of photography, shooting with a digital camera -initially a Canon and more recently a Sony – and using an Adobe Lightroom digital workflow vs. a darkroom. As you will quickly notice looking at my work, I LOVE color – hence my site: vivid-photography.com.

My photography is varied, but I tend to focus on colorful skies (the amazing sunrises and sunsets we get in Northern California along our magnificent coast), the birds and the bees, and anything else I come across that catches my eye with a streak of color.
