About The Artist
As a fervent collector of both tangible and digital snapshots, I’m constantly amassing a treasure trove of images from the tapestry of everyday life. When it comes to my paintings, I kickstart the creative process by blending snapshots from my trusty iPhone with an eclectic array of materials: books, magazines, ads, you name it. It’s a cut-and-paste extravaganza, and before long, a blueprint for the composition begins to emerge.
My true passion lies in weaving together unexpected tales by fusing traditional art techniques with an eclectic mix of mass media imagery. Through the artful connection and deconstruction of these visuals, I revel in the opportunity to challenge conventional allegories, unearth hidden meanings, and spin captivating narratives.
At the heart of it all is my lifelong fascination with the dynamic interplay of shapes, lines, colors, and contexts within the boundless realm of art and media. Join me on a journey through the multiverse of creativity, where every stroke tells a story and every image sparks a new adventure.
I grew up immersed in the 1970’s grit and brilliance of San Francisco’s North Beach and Chinatown district. A place where punk & protest graffiti wallpapered the alleyways nearby.
My elementary school was on Broadway & Montgomery, just a block from the legendary Punk venue -Mabuhay Gardens, first topless strip bar -Condor Club, Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Club and the Vesuvio Cafe, where the Beat poets once held court.
Surrounded by this raw, unapologetic energy, it was impossible not to be influenced by the vivid rebellion and unabashed freedom around me; punk music, graffiti, protest art, civil rights, sexual revolution, and the unfiltered voice of the streets.
I was a latch & key kid; at home drawing all the crazy colorful images & pictures I see after school exploring my neighborhood. These early influences set the tone for my work, where I traverse the contrasts between everyday objects and the extraordinary… For me, art is a way to make sense of a world that’s complex, raw, relentless and endlessly inspiring.
I received my BFA, Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from San Francisco State University and had the amazing opportunity to study under both professor/working artist, Paul Pratchenko & Richard Mclean.
