About The Artist
My art blends abstract expressionism and representational elements reflecting my intuitive approach to painting. Some of my work is whimsical, capturing the humor and joy I see in my life. I aim to escape some of the challenging realities of our world with paint and papers, infusing my creations with a sense of lightness and positivity.
I hope that my art brings a smile to your day, inviting you to explore the colorful and imaginative spaces where reality and whimsy intersect. Through a visual language that embraces both abstraction and representation, I seek to spark curiosity, connection and moments of joy in the hearts of viewers.
Even though I was a holistic chiropractor for 35 years in San Francisco I have always felt a pull to be an artist. I have taken numerous art classes and workshops for many years and after studying acrylic painting I dove into the world of collage, and eventually encaustic art.
Because I had to dissolve my encaustic art studio in 2021 I went back to painting and began incorporating paper materials within my compositions and now consider myself a Mixed Media Artist.
I have shown at City Art & Collage Galleries in San Francisco and have been involved in many group shows in Northern California for the past 15 years. In 2023 I won the Curator’s Choice Award at the Pence Gallery for the show: Exihit It with my fantasy Flower piece: ‘Flower #4’ and I won first place in Mixed Media for ‘Whale Establishing Contact’ in University Art’s 15th Annual Open.
Many of my paintings and encaustics are in private collections throughout the SF Bay Area, Colorado and New Mexico.

I am thrilled to be newly sharing Margot Hartford’s studio on the 2nd floor of the ICB in Sausalito (#207).
The ICB is such a huge cornucopia of amazing artists and I love the energy of the group experience!
