About The Artist
I am a psychologist with many interests that have become wellsprings for my current art — early human consciousness, indigenous cultures and their ceremonial practices, shamanism, dreams. I sometimes feel as if figures are coming to me a netherworld in which archetypal figures come into form, and sometimes want to come out to say something. The extreme grief of our war-ravaged world is a substrate giving rise to these figures. They offer an invitation to look past the concrete world, to know ourselves as part of nature, and beyond that, a world of constantly changing energies and forms. Perhaps they are suggesting that new information and forms might emerge to aid in healing the world.
I was born in Dallas TX, and became part of the diaspora of hippies-to-be in 1969. Disguised as a very serious student, a horse-crazy girl, and well-behaved southern young woman, I got to come of age in in the astonishing era of music, anti-war politics, experiments with community, and spiritual seeking. I spent time in France and have never given up the dream of living there. Or of having a farm. However, I became a Clinical Psychologist, work that I love. I’ve been in private practice for many years. I married and have two grown sons, and now two granddaughters— the loves of my life.
I lost a child.
I went back to politics, and went to Afghanistan for International Women’s Day. I taught classes on Paleolithic cave painting. I discovered art and writing, have published three poetry books, and am working on a dystopian novel.
