In the series “Elements:” the discussion of elements concerns physicality. Rather than referring to abstract values as in the “Values:” series, in these pieces the optical dance of black and white takes place over fields that refer to elements of the physical world. Tracing the twisting paths of white and black over fields of silver and gold and copper calls up narratives from an entirely different place than simple fields of color, with the endless depths of deep carbon black closing out the series in a way that ties it all together.
